Distributing fruit and vegetables out of the back of a car during a visit to an informal settlement in Soweto was one of the many highlights of my first trip to South Africa. Though I was visiting (from Colorado) to attend a safety conference, thanks to Imbizo Tours, I was able to gain an understanding of how people live at different socio-economic levels through various learning excursions like this one. More than 10 years later, and now as a journalist in the auto industry, this is my favorite memory of how an automobile can be used for goodwill. What’s yours?
UPDATE: Between now and midnight, Thursday, August 31, Creative Auto Reviews is running a challenge on Instagram to celebrate goodwill, with special attention to Southeastern Texas. We are simply noting the good that we see in images on Instagram as it relates to rescue efforts in the area.
We will resume the original challenge (below) at a later date. If you have sent images already, we will definitely consider using them.
Original Challenge: To accept the #CreativeAutoReviewsGW Challenge, you must: 1) post an image of an automobile being used for goodwill on your personal account, 2) use the hashtag #creativeautoreviewsgw, 3) follow CreativeAutoReviews during the Challenge period 4) include photo credit, and 5) provide a brief description. Note: The photo can be from any time period.
