I received rave reviews during my test drive of the Toyota 2014 Scion tC. Yes. Me.
On more than one occasion after putting money in a parking meter I turned to see smiling faces, head nods and words of validation on my choice to drive this sporty three-door lift back. Sparkling in one of the seven color offerings, Absolutely Red, this Scion tC boasts a noteworthy design with sleek side windows, panoramic glass roof with a front power tilt/slide moonroof, projector-beam headlamps, front bumper LED accent lights, rear combination lights with LED stop lamps, and 18-inch alloy wheels. People will notice.
The operating features bring their own attraction, including the Star Safety System™. Safety measures include a boatload of airbag systems for the driver and front passenger, seat-mounted side airbags, knee airbags as well as front and rear-side curtain airbags. The dash for the Pioneer ® audio system is slightly tilted toward the driver, for more convenience and ideally safe reach for the buttons. Unfortunately, though I felt secure, the lumbar support in the sport front-bucket seat was a bit disappointing. The industrial designers need to give this area a little more love to bring it up to par with other Toyotas, which tend to offer top-notch support in this area. The back seat is a bit snug for passengers, but is family oriented with latch-lower anchor and tether for car seats. The 60/40 split reclining, fold-flat rear seats help open the 14.7 cu. ft. cargo space. With standard features including 180 horsepower, McPherson struts, and double wishbone rear suspension, the Scion tC offers a solid sporty ride.
Now. Back to me. On one occasion, I walked out of a store and toward the Scion tC to find two people admiring the car. As I approached the door, I received more nods of approval. I thought if nothing else in the day goes right, I know driving this car is a good decision. Ladies, think of your favorite pair of designer high-heel shoes? The ones that make you feel on top of the world, not because they are comfortable – but because of the compliments you receive when you wear them. That’s the 2014 Scion tC.
